Sales Internship

TITLE  |  Sales Intern

REPORTS TO  |  Marketing Manager & Founder/President

COMPENSATION  |  Unpaid, for college credit

TERM  |  Spring Semester, January-May. Opportunity for role growth. Min 10 hrs/week.

The Sales Intern will work in a start-up business environment where they will help to lay a foundation for how Public Thread pursues sales prospects and leads in order to reach sales goals. This includes, but is not limited to, spreading brand awareness of Public Thread, creating sales tools, building and helping to oversee a sales lead database, making connections and building relationships with potential clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and recommend appropriate sales funnel for custom order clients

  • Develop sales lead database and system for tracking progress

  • Seek out partnership opportunities between community organizations/businesses and Public Thread

  • Build and nurture mutually beneficial relationships with potential clients

  • Develop sales tools and brand awareness materials in collaboration with Marketing Intern/Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a degree or recently graduated with a degree in Sales, Business Management, Apparel Design, Communications, Public Relations or a related field

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed

  • Driven to achieve and dream with an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills

  • Dedicated to creating diverse connections within the community

  • Passionate about sustainable and ethical business practices

  • Existing knowledge of or desire to learn about the apparel and textile industry

Marketing Internship

The Marketing Intern will work in a start-up business environment where they will co-create our communications systems and help to lead our marketing and communications work. This position is for a highly-skilled, systems-focused and community engaged individual. This individual will learn a first-hand how to manage and grow the marketing aspects of a small, creative business with an important and multi-layered story to tell.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with Marketing Director and Public Thread Founder to establish a clear set of messages, branding, values and tools for connecting with potential clients, partnerships and retail/wholesale customers.

  • Conduct and analyze research to identify target and niche markets, key competitors and potential partners

  • Establish systems for connecting with clients/potential clients and the community about our work/products

  • Create systems in collaboration with Sales Intern to create a professional Sales and Marketing plan for the next year to be tracked and evaluated

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a degree or recently graduated with a degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Management, Apparel Design, Communications, Public Relations or a related field

  • Knowledge in navigating SEO, Google, Instagram and Facebook analytics.

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed with problem-solving skills for days

  • Understands how to transform complex systems into the key components without losing depth of message

Product Development Internship

TITLE  |  Product Development Intern

REPORTS TO  |  Design/Product Development Lead & Founder/President

COMPENSATION  |  Unpaid, for college credit

TERM  |  Spring Semester, January-May. Opportunity for role growth. Min 10 hrs/week.

The Product Development Intern will assist our Lead Designer with development, sampling, pattern-making, tech-pack creation and making products for our Public Thread line and contract work. This individual, detail-oriented and hard-working with a passion for textiles and design, will assist in creating sustainable and innovative designs. There will opportunities in real-time to use creativity and boundary-breaking innovation to continue building opportunities for Public Thread and both our own products and creations with our community partnerships

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in designing products that can be created and brought to market

  • Support, assist and possibly lead, product development functions including conceptualizing, fabric/material selection, design, prototyping, pattern-making, sampling, tech pack creation and assisting with costing for a variety of products

  • Assist with cutting and sewing of products for Public Thread and/or clients.

  • Learn about the full process, steps and participate in all the steps from idea to development and through production for sewn products

  • Help to build systems in collaboration with our team of Sewists to improve on production efficiency and sustainability

  • Conduct research to source materials, textiles, notions, etc for use in products made by Public Thread

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a degree or recently graduated with a degree in the field of Apparel Design/Production, Textiles and Manufacturing or a related field

  • Existing knowledge of or desire to learn about the apparel and textile industry

  • Exceptional attention to detail and design components

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed with problem-solving skills for days
